In the Western world, we are not taught to listen to ourselves.
Why is that? Well, I could expound for hours on my theories, but let’s just stick with the idea that we aren’t. Learning how to tap into that “still small voice”, our “inner self” or “inner guidance” or our soul… may seem challenging.
In the beginning, it takes some effort to hear it. But it IS there. It’s a part of you that is different from your brain, separate from your heart and certainly removed from your ego. It is a knowing place inside. And once you begin to listen for it, then TO it and actually HONOR what it’s saying…it will get louder and clearer. And then…watch out…you’ll start to recognize all those things your body has been trying to tell you…are actually messages. Continue reading →
Everyone, everywhere goes through times of transition. Without understanding all the possibilities that exist during this time, it can feel like a scary, lonely place with no stable footing. And though it may seem frightening, it is also a time of great empowerment and dynamism.
Change opens doors
Transitions mark shifts in the pattern of one’s life. And…the most exciting part is that this is the time when we are most open to creating something new for ourselves. Whether your transition is self created or has seemingly happened to you, this time in your life is WIDE OPEN! You are no longer Continue reading →
It seems to me…more and more that many of us came to this life to lead at least two lives; one before our awakening which is based on ego, separation and things of the world often focused on fitting in, doing the normal things and struggle. And then there is life after the awakening when we begin to listen and honor our soul, and our still small voice. When this happens, a whole NEW life comes alive and we begin to see everything fresh. We come into connection with our spiritual gifts, into concert with our authentic self and find a resting place within that is like nothing we’ve ever known. It is such an honor to work with individuals making this transition. I love helping them come home to themselves.
What matters to YOU is what matters, not what the world says matters, but what YOU value in your own heart and everyone has this golden information inside, everyone.
We have but one life, as far as we know and much like the bumper sticker that says; “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could”, you may not have been born knowing your passion but I would spend every breath you have finding it and then spend the rest of your life exploring it and living it the best you can.
Of course, passion can be vocation, it can be creativity, it can be family…it can be anything and it is up to each person to find it. No one can tell you, but helpers can help point, but no one can feel it for you. It is your work to do. And if you do not have the courage to look and find it then make peace with that, but oh golly, have the courage! Because living one’s passion is like living your best dream every day. It feels natural and energizing and deep and real. When living our passion, the ups and downs feel small for the joy of doing the thing is like the tonic of the soul.

Whether you work with me as a coach or go another route, I honor where you are in your life and I invite you to pay attention to the part of you that desires to be seen, known and loved. It IS YOU and YOU are courageous and beautiful. To your journey,
It is impossible to be a happy person AND think predominately negative thoughts.
Whose beliefs do you believe
We do not have to accept that which was downloaded to us by default by our families of origin or the culture we came from. We can create our own more positive and helpful beliefs about anything and everything. For whatever we have created as a belief inside us, our minds work hard to prove as true. So…you can see how important our beliefs are!!! Let’s intentionally choose good ones!
Raise Your Consciousness Tip
Be Congruent! Being congruent is speaking our truth. It means saying what we mean and meaning what we say. It is sharing who we really are inside and not who we think we “should” be. It is learning to show up fully for ourselves and those in our world.
Free yourself and follow your heart even if for just a moment.
The power of your life
Let your life be a blessing to others. Never underestimate your influence.
So you’re floating along, in your personal boat, in the river of your life. You’re going with the flow… calm and peaceful. Then, all of the sudden, you see a brightly colored box on the edge of the river. You’re curious, so you paddle over to the edge of the river, get out of your boat and tie it to a rock. You go over to the box and examine it. It’s quite interesting looking and you really want to see what is inside. You take the top off and out pours all sorts of problems and contentious people saying crazy things. They are pointing at you and saying unnecessary things and doing the same to each other. You easily get pulled in to the mean things they are saying to you. You defend yourself and try to stand up for others. You spend the next couple of days there, on the side of the river of your life…mucking around with all the ego and personality and pain of what came out of the box. Finally, on the morning of the third day, you’ve had enough.
You think about throwing the box into the river or burning it. You’re wondering if the way to make them all shut up is to tell them to go back in the box. Would they even listen? Late that afternoon, you wonder…what if I just got back into my boat? What if I just left them here? Would they follow me? Would they even notice? Why did I stop in the first place? This is a drag. So that night, when things have simmered down, you quietly get in your boat, hoping to leave undetected. You untie your boat and all of the sudden you’re back into the gentle flow of the river of your life. Over the next couple of days you see box after box on the shores of your river. You NOW know that those boxes are DRAMA. That’s all they are and sometimes it’s interesting to stop and get involved but most of the time, it’s just a distraction from the flow of your life. You know now that you cannot experience both at the same time: drama and flow. Which do you choose?
Most of the pain in the world is not from what happens to us…but what we think about what happens to us and how long we hold onto the pain of our belief. – July 13, 2012
Shining Your Light
One of the fastest ways to increase your ability to shine your light is to clear the clutter that blocks your soul from shining fully! Look at what you still carry from the past; anger, disappointment, judgement, etc. and work to forgive and release. All that icky stuff acts like a handkerchief over your light bulb! July 13, 2012
The hold of the past
Time and experience are constantly unfolding under our feet, all around us like a conveyor belt. Every time we get stuck on an event that has occurred and is now past, we are not attentive to the unfold-ment that is the present. Let the past be the past and leave it on the conveyor belt as soon as you can drop it. This moment is new and new again and new again. Work to release cynicism of “knowing” what the future will hold. Become like a child again. -July 10, 2012
Longing is a wish for what we do not have. Longing is a habit of running away from what is. Longing is living in a dream. – July 9, 2012
Gifts we all have
The light of our life; our consciousness, is our greatest gift. – July 6, 2012
Who is in your circle?
Are the majority of the people in your life positive or negative? Remember- we are highly, HIGHLY influenced by the thinking and attitudes of those in our sphere. When choosing new relationships ask yourself: will this person inspire me and will I inspire them? – July 5, 2012
Our human experience
Some days you think you have it…you’ve figured it out. Some days you think you’ve lost it. Some days feel like marshmellow. It’s all part of the human experience. It’s okay…you’re right where you’re supposed to be, right on time! Take a breath and be gentle with yourself! Everything goes up and down…hold on tight, it’s a great ride! – June 28, 2012
Don’t wait for ‘perfect’
The mundane details of life will distract you forever. If you’ve been putting something off that you really want…start planning TODAY! Don’t wait for the day everything is perfect and ready. That day…in the future…does not exist. -June 26, 2012
Be conscious of what you are feeding your mind. “You are what you eat” is also true for the mind: “You are what you think” AND “Junk in, Junk Out”. This means being aware of what you are “inputting”, such as drama, loudness, violence, sadness, etc. For a week, pay attention to what you listen to, watch, engage in…and notice if it colors your view and affects your moods. This is especially important if you are highly sensitive or “empathic” to the emotions and woes of the world.
Look at how you use your mind. Do you spend hours entertaining negative and fearful thoughts…inside your head and with others? How is this affecting your internal experience, your emotional state? Recognize you have a choice as to what you put into your mind and what you do with your mind.
Find a mental relaxation that works for you. The point of mental relaxation is to help the mind experience a period of time that is “slower” than the rest of the day. When we focus on something- draw, create, pray, listen to relaxing music or meditate, our brain waves slow down. Slowing down brain waves, decreases the mental chatter, allowing for a more peaceful mind. A little practice every day allows you to experience the differences between a chattering mind and a more peaceful mind and helps you recognize that you have a choice. There are dozens of types of meditation, so if one hasn’t worked, keep looking. Simply sitting and breathing is actually a type of meditation. Here are some that I teach: quiet, sound, walking, visualization and focused.
Start saying nice things to yourself. Studies have shown that it takes eight positive comments to overcome one negative one. The mind attaches to the negative comments because they often cause hurt which is an emotional response that creates a chemical reaction. It’s part of our hard-wiring from early on. Remember however, it’s one thing to deal with negative comments from outside (which we cannot always control), it’s another to have our own negative loop about ourselves in our own heads. Affirmations can work wonders in this area. Don’t worry if you don’t believe them just yet…it’s part of building a positive and empowering belief inside you ABOUT yourself. Nothing outside you will ever help you feel as good as loving and accepting yourself. This only begins by ceasing the negative things you say to yourself.
Interested in learning how to release yourself from your negative thought loops forever? I coach individuals through a process that does just that. Contact me directly at email@example.com to learn more. I live in Austin and offer personal coaching via phone/in person and deliver group workshops for personal empowerment. Shine your light! – Hope
The Energy Leadership™ Index (E.L.I.) is a one-of-a-kind assessment that will enable you to hold up a mirror to your perceptions, attitudes, behaviors, and overall leadership capabilities. Remember – Everyone Leads…whether it’s 600 employees, a family or ourselves – everyone leads! The E.L.I is a great way to dive into coaching but whether you proceed through the full program or not, the realizations that you’ll gain from the Energy Leadership assessment and debrief process alone will change the way you view your world.
Background: An Attitudinal Assessment
There are two main types of assessments: Personality and Attitudinal. Personality based assessments, such as Myers Briggs and D.I.S.C. are very valuable tools that pinpoint certain personality types so that people can have more of an understanding about what their strengths and weaknesses are. By understanding your personality and how it relates to what you do, you can adapt your behavior to “work with what you have,” to function effectively.
The E.L.I. is an attitudinal assessment, which is based on an energy/action model. This assessment differs from personality assessments as it is not intended to label a person and have them work well within that label. Instead, it measures your level of energy based on your attitude, or perception and perspective of your world. Because attitude is subjective, it can be altered. By working with a coach using the E.L.I., you can alter your attitude and perspective, make a shift in your consciousness, and increase your energy and self-leadership effectiveness.
There are no limits as to the potential growth that you can achieve. Once you realize that your level of consciousness is directly related to your actions, you can move from functioning effectively, to functioning optimally.
As part of the Energy Leadership Index assessment and debrief process, you’ll learn about the 7 levels of leadership and how much energy you currently have in the catabolic-suppressing range and in the anabolic-inspirational range. You’ll be debriefed on the findings of the assessment, and coached on how to navigate yourself to higher performance.
If you proceed on to the Energy Leadership Development System, you’ll be coached on how to become your ideal image of who you need to be as a leader for your life, situation, division, team, and/or company.
Hope Tackaberry is a Master Practitioner of the Energy Leadership Index. The assessment takes 20-30 minutes and is offered online. The debrief runs 45-60 minutes and is conducted by Hope. Email Hope by filling in the contact form below or at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up your assessment and debrief. Knowledge is Power!

Self talk is one of the most impactful things we do all day. Are you aware
of what you’re saying to yourself? Is it good? Is is bad? Remember: it shapes your reality and the filter you see the world through. Start paying attention to what you say to yourself!

“The subconscious mind is an odd entity. It is odd for the simple reason that it will accept anything we tell it as true. It is powerful because once it has accepted a statement as true it will put it’s formidable powers to work to make sure that our reality lines up with that ‘truth’.”
So…since we get to choose what our head says back to us….what would you like yours to say?
Employers lose $200 billion a year due to stress-related ailments and 75-90 percent of employee visits to hospitals are stress-related, according to the National Institute of Health. What amazing statistics!
Why we are not attacking stress with the same vigor with which we have attacked drug addiction or drunk driving, I know not. After all, stress is one of the Continue reading →
School bullies have been all over the media lately. It’s a sad truth for today’s youth. Equally unfortunate is the truth that most adults are privy to… bullies exist in healthy numbers well beyond the high school years. 1. Start with your intention. At every new turn and twist in life we have the opportunity to set a new intention. If your default intention is to worry that you won’t get everything done or that the situation will be hectic, chances are…that is what you will experience. However, if you take a moment to create in your mind what you want the experience to be for you…as vividly as you can, (and then let go) you will Continue reading →
